Skincare Inspo: Japan Edition

Japanese women are famous for their clear, healthy skin and intricate skincare routines. After lots of research and shopping around I settled on 3 products I couldn’t wait to begin using!

  • Tsubaki Oil

This oil made from the Camelia flower is simply stunning. Light and deeply hydrating it made my skin feel like silk after applying it before bed for a week. The molecular weight of the oil is an almost identical match to skin sebum which allows it to absorb so easily meaning its fab for all skin types.

Geishas famously used this oil to remove their stage make up and once cleansed, they would apply this again for hydration.

  • Rich in Oleic Acid – replenishes lost moisture and prevents ageing due to its antioxidant properties.
  • Vitamins A,B,D&E – promotes and protects healthy skin, heals damage and evens skin tone.

I chose a blend with Neroli and Lavender as I wanted a calming combination due to my skin being a little/hugely oily at times.

  1. Konjac Sponges.

These absolutely amaze me! These cleansing sponges are made from the super healthy Konjac root and have been used for over 2000 years.

They are perfect for that squeaky clean feeling as they’re gently exfoliating and as they’re 100% natural they’re safe for even the most sensitive of skins. They come in an array of colours, each colour benefits a certain condition. My favourite is the green due to the extra ingredient of green clay renowned for its cleansing benefits.

To use:

  • Wet the sponge
  • Squeeze to remove excess water
  • Remove your cleanser and make up with circular movements
  • Rinse to clean and hang up to dry!

As these sponges are natural, they’re 100% biodegradable – its best to throw them away after a month and can be composted along with your fruit and veg!

  • Charcoal Soap

Charcoal soap has been used for centuries to remove impurities from the skin. Charcoal soap works particularly well on oily skin and for any body acne issues. This gently hydrating soap can be used just like a normal soap and is a safe alternative for all the family.

Although it is said to be beneficial to face and body – I’m choosing to use it solely on the body for now. This gentle soap will especially help the below conditions:

  • Dry/Dehydrated Skin
  • Eczema
  • Psoriasis
  • Kerastasis Pilaris
  • Body Acne
  • Imbalanced Skin Conditions

The only thing that took some getting used to was using a black soap to remove dirt! However, it felt incredible to finally find a non-stripping soap.

If anyone has any questions or different tips on how to use these products then comment below.
